People do sport for a whole host of reasons but there is one big reason.
Yes, we like the competition and the beauty of a new carbon fibre bike. We might also like the social element and the feeling of satisfaction that comes with pushing yourself and overcoming physical and mental hurdles.
But, none of these reasons are the biggy.
I think that overwhelmingly we don’t do it for health although that is a very good side effect.
I think that we train hard because we want to look good, which in turn makes us feel good.
Now be honest, how many of you do a little pose down in the mirror each night – I know I do, yes really I do but I like what I see, so why not?
Theres nothing to be ashamed of there, looking lean and athletic is something to be proud of.
A lot of times though athletes involved in endurance sports might not have the physique that they think they deserve.
To be fair if you train twice a day following a good programme you deserve to look awesome.
I’ve said it before and no doubt I will say it again, unfortunately its not this training that will ultimately leave you looking your best.
It is you diet.
So the problem here is that we spend all this effort trying to improve ourselves training and we don’t look as good as we could if we got our nutrition spot on.
I think thats a real shame.
As you look better and your boy fat drops, not only will that pose down every night look a lot better but you will also swim faster, ride more efficiently and run like the wind.
Nutrition has to be personal though, its not a matter of just following a generic plan, loads of people do this and fail all the time.
It has to fit your circumstances, body type and training programme.
Its my job to do this and thats why my clients perform better and look brilliant on the beach.
Heres what Andy Thompson Says:
“My times have dropped along with my waist line and I feel like a new man. I am also not quite so worried about all my wobbly bits when running from the pool to the bike :-)”
