Yesterday I had been out training and on my return was presented with a box of wooden planks by my wife.
“It’s Lottie’s sandpit – can you put it together”
FFS!
Just when I should have been having my recovery shake and doing a bit of foam rolling – I now had this unforeseen challenge.
Don’t worry I got the shake in, just skipped the rolling this time!
Anyway, I got to work and it was a nightmare.
There were instructions and all the right pieces but it didn’t make any sense.
I laid it all out, started putting it together but I was struggling.
I wasn’t in the right frame of mind.
I didn’t want to do it.
I gave up.
I decided I would get Vinnie and Steve – my local handymen to step in.
I’d rather pay someone to do this than have the trouble myself – a bit lazy I know but why do we work after all?
To give us some choice and opportunity.
Vinnie (Yes he is really called that) had it sorted in no time.
He had the right tools, he’s a practical man and I was paying him – He did well.
It made me thing that this is exactly the same with my expertise.
If Vinnie wanted to know
- How to perform as best as he could
- How to get lean
- How to feel energised through his nutrition
- How to be the healthiest version of himself
Well he could try and do it himself – but he doesn’t know how, it’s not his thing.
He would likely try and fail, just like I did with the sandpit.
What he should do is get someone in who knows what they’re doing.
An expert who has done the job a thousand times.
Someone who has used trial and error and now knows what works, so you don’t have to make the same mistake.
Vinnie should get ME in.
For you, that might mean paying someone to do a bike fit .
Getting someone to do a gait analysis.
Or maybe get someone to sort out your diet.
As you know my one one client base is full – if you need help now though get my book.
