Recovery mistakes

UnknownSo last week me, the misses and my kids went away – got to get that all important family time.

We went to Scotland and stayed in a place right on the Loch – it was brilliant.

I needed a rest from everything.

Nutri Tri has been ridiculously busy, which is good but tough.

My training has suffered and I felt washed out.

I’ve had a few colds etc etc.

I’m sure plenty of you have been there before – Training hard, working hard, demands of family etc, it can all get a bit much.

You sometimes don’t actually realise how tough until you stop.

Especially if your ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE!

The sort who puts pressure on yourself to achieve – chances are you are.

Triathlon attracts those people, people like you and me.

Sometimes you just need to take a backward step, chill out, recharge the batteries and go again.

It’s why recovery is so important to your performance, to your health and actually to your happiness.

When we think of recovery, nutrition does come to mind but people still make common mistakes, mistakes like:

  • Not eating enough
  • Doing too many junk miles
  • Never switching off – addicted to your phone anyone?
  • Not sleeping well enough.

I’ve made all these and sometimes they creep back in.

So, if your feeling tired and washed out it may be time for a change – the best thing I can advise you on, is your diet so here goes:

  • Check your carb intake – not everyone can handle low carb
  • Are you getting enough veg – at least 5 fist portions a day
  • Are you consuming enough calories – you need more than a normal person.

All simple checks and all easily checkable nowadays with various apps.

If your not sure what to do though it may be time to join the hundreds of other triathletes who have already bought my ebook – The Triathlon Nutrition Code:
