We’ve all been there.
Usually after a holiday or Christmas – we feel like we’ve over indulged and need to shed the pounds.
We cut back and the first bit goes easily and then it slows down, or even stops.
Why?
Firstly, the reason the first bit goes is that this isn’t fat – you know that already though but just to be clear, what is going is the glycogen we store in our muscles.
When we have this level of glycogen we will also store water. Both together add the weight.
So what we are losing isn’t fat.
It is then this stage that follows which matters the most.
This is purely anecdotal evidence but from my experience, this means sticking at a diet for at least 2 weeks before you start to remove a noticeable amount of fat.
That doesn’t sound too hard.
The thing is, it is actually from 2 weeks onwards where the magic happens and most people quit before they get there.
The key then is to make sure you have a diet which is healthy and set up for weight loss but doesn’t feel like restriction.
Usually when people go on a diet it is one of extreme restriction and usually eating foods you don’t like or find bland and boring – This is OK for two weeks but then………
Well, it’s boring!
And as my Mum used to say to me:
“Life is boring, Jamie!”
Well I disagreed then and I still do now and the same goes for dieting.
It doesn’t have to be boring.
This is why I wrote my E-book – The Triathlete Nutrition Code:
The purpose of the book is to help you set up the perfect diet for you.
For your body type and genetics – No were NOT all the same.
To help you understand the role of your metabolism and how to manipulate this to your advantage.
I wrote it because I can no longer work with that many people one to one – There is too much demand and I’ve not enough time.
The book then is a good way to help more people, help themselves.
It is full of tasty recipes which will fuel the athlete and leave you feeling satisfied and like you are NOT on a diet and that my friend is how the magic happens.
I know because I’ve seen it time and time again.
Before I go, remember this:
“There is no such thing as failure, only those who never start or quit too soon”
Which one are you?
