It’s not a secret that triathletes train hard.
It’s not uncommon for you to be told you are a bit weird for wanting to swim in a freezing lake, then jump on your bike in nothing but a leotard, only then to go for a run as fast as you can.
The thing is, people like us who voluntarily do this for fun, are weird.
Most people can not be bothered to get up to change channel on their TV – remember when you had to do that?
Movement is something that the majority try and avoid – it can be uncomfortable and we live in a world where discomfort is frowned upon.
So why then do some people, people like us seek out that discomfort, that pain?
I guess it makes us feel good and maybe even slightly superior to those who can’t be bothered.
That generally means we will have higher self esteem, be more confident and consequently, hopefully happier.
That in itself is a perfectly good reason to do triathlon, or any sport – the pursuit of happiness.
However thats not enough – we want to be fast.
We train hard.
We miss some social events.
We go to bed early.
We don’t drink as much alcohol.
We eat well.
It can then be really frustrating if things don’t work as well as hoped.
Maybe we are tired all the time.
Maybe we still feel fat.
Maybe the run is still a struggle.
When we’re in this situation we usually think about fitting in more training but this just isn’t practical.
It’s then when we can make real gains with our nutrition.
Improved nutritional strategies will:
Give us more energy.
Help us sleep better.
Improve our recovery so we can train better.
Get us leaner, which will make that run a damn site easier.
The best thing about perfecting your nutrition is that it takes no more time.
The thing then that holds people back is having a plan and sticking to it.
It why I set up my Private Coaching Group – The Total Triathlete:
Inside you get a meal plan.
A FREE copy of my E-Book.
The chance to have me personally review your nutrition.
Accountability – someone to tell you when to make a few tweeks and someone to tell you when you’re doing the right thing.
If you are serious about getting faster and making the most of your training, this is for you.
If not, no worries – carry on doing what you’re doing.
