Anyone on a weight loss journey will have likely scoured the internet to find the best way to go about their journey.
Unfortunately that can leave us feeling more confused than when we started.
Should we fast?
Should we go low carb
Should we be vegan
Etc
What is without question though, is that to lose weight you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat).
The problem here is that if you get this wrong you will also lose muscle as well as fat.
Muscle that will ultimately make us a faster triathlete, have a more aesthetically pleasing body and ultimately make us healthier.
Therefore setting the calories at the right level is crucial here – low enough to lose fat but not too low to lose muscle.
When we diet too extremely we also put pressure on our endocrine system (hormones).
This can lead to negative physiological effects, one of which is clinging on to body fat.
Cortisol in particular will be raised which will make losing fat from our stomachs difficult.
Our hormones can be managed through lifestyle factors, like sleep, stress management and type pf food consumed.
All of a sudden this can make the prospect of losing a few pounds sound like a brain surgery!
Its why I wrote my E-book – The Triathlete Nutrition Code:
Firstly it will teach you how to set calories.
This is not just a calorie calculator that a “normal” person would use.
Its designed for active people and I’ve refined and tweeked this from the thousands of triathletes I’ve personally worked with.
Next, it will teach you how to manipulate macro nutrients for your own genes.
There are chapters on Cortisol and Insulin and how to optimise them.
Chapters on recovery and sleep and how getting these right will affect your body fat %.
Then there are the recipes which are designed to fuel your body, so you can perform optimally and NOT simply starve yourself!
It’s £9.99/$12 ish.
