It is a simple fact that when you train hard you will get hungrier.
There are various reasons for this, obviously there is the energy imbalance but there are also some hormonal factors.
Whatever the reasons, being hungry can cripple your training and any weight loss goals.
You see, when we don’t manage our hunger well we are far more likely to binge.
I’ve done it myself and I’ve seen it in many triathletes.
Often we will wonder why we aren’t losing weight when we are hungry.
The fact is, that this hunger can’t last – we will eventually seek out food.
And more often than not it will be cake!
The secret then is to feel satisfied from what you eat, so that you don’t need to pig out.
That means eating enough of the right calories and invariably enough protein.
If the food is tasty as well, you are on to a winner.
There are of course loads of good, healthy recipes around now but knowing which ones to choose can be tricky.
Because the demands of the triathlete are different to those of the general public.
