Whenever we embark on a challenge, a REAL challenge, there should be a bit of fear.
In fact I once heard it said:
“If your goals do not scare you, they are NOT BIG enough”
Different people will of course react differently to this fear.
For some it will drive them on to make sure things DON’T go wrong;
In the case of triathlon, NOT FINISHING or not making cut offs.
For the truly motivated, ambitious and driven athletes, this fear will force them to action.
To training well and in the right quantities.
To getting the right kit (not usually an issue)
To getting the right help.
Others will try and do it on their own.
They will trawl the internet for information on “How to”.
Somebody will say one thing like:
Don’t bother training with Heart Rate whilst another will say all sessions must be in Zone 2.
Confusion follows and confusion more often than not leads to paralysis or more bluntly – DOING NOTHING.
This is so true in the world of nutrition, with debates running wild about carbs, calories and supplements.
Everyone has an opinion and which one should you believe?????
