We are all our own worst critic. And to be fair if we are to be successful in this sport, we need to be honest with ourselves. There is no point in convincing ourselves that we are a great swimmer if we’re not. We need to face up to it and then do something about […]

Are all good runners skinny?
There is no denying that running is a weight-bearing sport. You have to carry your fat/skinny ass with you. The longer the run goes on, the more of an effect this has – hence why marathon runners are small.
Get faster in less time
If you are anything like me you are busy. Kids, work, friends, family, and training. It’s not easy to fit it all in and if you’re not careful you can end up doing all of it but doing any of it very well.
Avoid weekend binging with this:
Across the world, people are able to control themselves when they have structure. This is usually during the working week. We get up at a set time, eat at a set time and train at a set time – We are dictated to by our routine.
Do it daily
When we set out on a new challenge we often start with high motivation levels. We can’t wait to get started and then hit it with all we have. A couple of weeks later this enthusiasm can start to dwindle. This can be true of training, work, hobbies and new diets.
Are your genes to blame?
There is absolutely no doubt that genetics play a part in both performance and body composition. We all know that person who eats what they like but stays lean, right?
Should you train harder?
I know most triathletes have now finished their race season. That often means it is a time for reflection: What could you do better?
Base nutrition
Chances are that you are now beginning your plans for next years racing. Yes, there are still a few races to be done but I’d say most peoples focus is now on next year. Something that is often overlooked, is that different times of year require different nutrition strategies.
A good cheat meal this weekend
As a triathlete, we all make sacrifices – manly our time. We give it away to our training in the quest to get better. That level of sacrifice makes us feel like we deserve something good.
Lean by Christmas
I love this time of year for setting myself goals – For me, it is better than New Year. Perhaps it’s that back to school feeling but I know many other people feel the same. We start thinking about next year and what we want to achieve? What races to enter?
