I love this time of year for setting myself goals – For me, it is better than New Year.
Perhaps it’s that back to school feeling but I know many other people feel the same.
We start thinking about next year and what we want to achieve?
What races to enter?
What training plan to follow?
Times we need to achieve?
Our race weight?
All ,of course very valid markers of success.
Whilst the goal is important, it is far more important to figure out what daily actions will get us to that goal.
For example:
If we want to run a sub 2 hour half marathon, we need to to be able to run 3 times a week.
One long session, one interval and one recovery run.
If we follow that plan for 6 months then we will hit our goal.
The same is true of body weight.
If you want to be 10kg lighter by Christmas, what do you need to do daily?
How many calories should you eat?
How much Protein?
When do you have a cheat meal?
Which, if any supplements should you take?
Etc etc
If you know the answer to those questions you are away.
If not……..
Well the chances are you won’t succeed.
