We are all our own worst critic.
And to be fair if we are to be successful in this sport, we need to be honest with ourselves.
There is no point in convincing ourselves that we are a great swimmer if we’re not.
We need to face up to it and then do something about it.
That way, of course, we will get better, even if not by as much as we would like.
I can be pretty harsh on myself and if I am honest – A bit of me still thinks I am a bit fat.
In case you don’t know, I was a “fat kid”.
I don’t think this is a real problem for me but I suppose I am a bit self-conscious – It must have been all the ribbing I got at school.
Anyway, sometimes I get to see a picture of me and think…….
Actually, I look pretty good.
Not in a BIG headed way, I just think I’m a bit surprised.
The opposite can also be true of course and I’ve been there too.
In fact looking back over old pics the other day, I was shocked how bad I looked.
Not just the hairstyle and fashion but I was fatter than I remembered – probably about 3 stone heavier than now.
Of course, since then I’ve been on a journey which led me to here……
Coaching others through the same positive changes.
