Here in the Northern Hemisphere Winter is on its way.
I actually had to scrape the ice off my car yesterday.
For the Triathlete, winter means more time on the turbo and running on the Treadmill.
Don’t do this work now and you know that your race season will suffer come next year.
Fair-weather training just doesn’t cut it – not if you want to be close to your best anyway.
Winter is also a time of dietary challenges, especially Christmas!
Socialising, drinking and eating to excess, all of which can lead to more illness and time off training.
Unless you are lucky enough to spend the winters in Lanzarote, you probably dislike this time of year as much as me.
The truth is though that it is a great time to work on some weaknesses in your game.
Volume is usually lower and the pressure of race day is NOT around the corner.
It is, in fact, the perfect time to get your diet in order.
Especially before the madness of the yuletide arrives.
This next week can actually make or break your year.
Don’t address your nutrition and body composition now and it will be February before you get to it – That’s 4 months lost.
Get it right now and you build a bit of slack into your goals – you can still have a good time in December but because of the progress you’ve made in November, you will hit January ahead of schedule.
Granted this approach isn’t for everyone.
Some people just talk about goals but don’t actually commit to them.
Is that you?
I’ve been there – “Just thinking about it”
Let me tell you something – That achieves nothing.
Less procrastination, more action!
This is what we’re doing in my small coaching group right now.
Working on weaknesses.
Asking questions.
Learning.
All with the support of me and the fellow members of The Total Triathlete Coaching Group.
Please DON’T join though if you are not serious.
It’s only for people who want to make a difference, NOT just THINK about it.
